Vega

A new generation of flexible routers

Overview

Imagine if your router allowed you to convert all your unused outputs to inputs or all your unused inputs to additional outputs! This is exactly how Vega is different…we describe it as ‘fully asymmetric’…every port can be independently set up as an input or an output! For monitoring or distribution applications in particular, this minimizes I/O port wastage, where a traditional router of twice the size might be needed to implement the same system solution… Vega offers real savings in cost and space!

Unique flexibility

  • Every signal port can be configured as an input or an output
  • Supports both copper and fiber, or a mixture of the two

Mission critical reliability

  • Dual redundant crosspoints, frame controllers, power supplies and fans
  • Algorithmic system monitoring
  • Redundancy components are all hot pluggable

Installation efficiency

  • 50% more signal ports than a conventional coax router of equivalent rack height
  • Bridged coax / fiber boundaries without external media converters

Benefits

Unique fully asymmetric routing

Vega can operate as a conventional router, but it’s revolutionary benefit is that any port can be an input or an output. This is particularly useful in solving I/O port wastage within monitoring or distribution applications, where a traditional router, double the size might be needed to implement the same system solution.

Real world savings in in terms of rack space and power, without a large price premium for the technology.

Copper or Fiber

With Vega all coaxial copper and fiber boundaries can be bridged without the need for external media converters. All signal inputs can be independently configured for coax or fiber using the appropriate SFP ‘plug-in’ modules. This means that a final decision on some or all of the physical media types can be deferred. Indeed unused ports can remain empty until required. Simply purchase the additional modules at a later date.

Mission Critical Reliability

Vega has been created around the fundamentals of system redundancy and reliability, critical attributes for 'On-Air' systems.  Dual crosspoints, dual controllers, dual power supplies and dual fans, all of which are hot pluggable, allowing 'Live' serviceability, keeping you 'On Air' 24/7.  Proprietary algorithms, proven over many years, continuously monitor every sub-assembly in order to help preempt potential issues and allow them to be resolved before they are able to affect system integrity.

Status at a glance

Every port has an individual multi-colored LED, used to indicate all aspects of its current state. These give the user immediate feedback when connecting new signals.  These indicators can also be used for connector identification.
