Kahuna Software Range

Creating elegant, enhanced live production workflows in conjunction with Kahuna production switchers

Galaxy Event List – advanced productions with efficient workflows
In today’s cost conscious broadcast environment, the options available to broadcasters are reduced. Especially in Live Production, cost pressures are increasing, forcing facilities to look at ways to streamline their operations to enable consistent programming at lower running costs.

Simultaneously, productions are becoming more complex and the need to differentiate programming from competitors increases. However, many users are realizing that their budgets do not have the flexibility for additional live production equipment or staff to meet these increased demands.

Galaxy Event List (GEL) in combination with Kahuna’s third party device control protocols gives operators the ability to automate the mundane and free up their time to concentrate on the creative side of the production. As Galaxy Event List is non- MOS based it negates the requirement for additional external IT equipment and helps keep production costs to a minimum.

Certain programme genres have a particular look and feel that often require a set series of repetitive operator interventions. With Galaxy Event List operators can easily create their own Event List in advance

Adding value in a range of production scenarios, GEL allows the operator to record and create an automated or operator intervention sequence of actions that run along an event line. GEL is highly flexible: it allows the user to create and move the events around in any sequence, as is required by the workflow at that exact time.

Galaxy Event List is a control layer that enables sophisticated Live Production automation at remarkably low cost.

It gives the operator confidence by empowering them to streamline productions and at the same time reduce running costs. GEL is simple and intuitive to operate; it requires only one operator with no extra external IT support required. It does not require any compromises in the events, and still it enables the creation of advanced productions that reflect well on the channel brand identity.

K-Watch buys you time just when you need it
In a Live production environment time is of the essence. The skill of your staff can be the difference between you breaking a news story or your rival channel.

K-Watch or Kahuna Watch is an innovative Snell-developed software application that automatically converts and imports images and clips to a networked Kahuna mainframe, allowing you more time to prepare for live production.

K-Watch continuously runs on a PC searching for new graphics to convert to the Kahuna native file format. Then it saves the images/clips to a specific project folder on the PC which, in-turn, associates to the same project number in the Kahuna and updates the Kahuna with the new images ready for use.

Thousands of images and clips can be stored in Kahuna’s projects, making K-Watch an extremely fast and powerful application to own.

K-Watch helps consolidate the control and process of all image/clip sources, which improve reliability and efficiency while shortening production time. If there is more than one Kahuna Mainframe on the same network there are further options to broaden Kahuna Watch’s scope.

K-Mirror
In a Live Production environment, the ability to keep abreast of all updates is critical. K-Mirror is a neat Snell software application that guarantees fast, constant updates and easy fi le sharing whether it’s on one Kahuna or across a network of Kahuna’s.

K-Mirror recognizes when new fi les are available in a Kahuna Project and disperses them over the network to other Kahuna Mainframes or just to the PC it’s running from.

The software runs identifies when new stills, clips, macros and effects memory fi les have been added to the synchronized project on the Kahuna. It then mirrors those files, sending the information back to the PC. If there are a number of additional Kahuna Mainframes on the network the mirrored information is transferred to the other systems updating identical projects throughout.
