Snell Enhances Playout Portfolio With Pixel Power™ BrandMaster™

LAS VEGAS, NAB, Booth N1820 (Snell) and Booth N2034 (Pixel Power) — April 11, 2010 — Snell and Pixel Power™ today announced a worldwide agreement giving Snell the right to resell BrandMaster™, Pixel Power’s unique master control switcher with integrated graphics. This partnership significantly enhances Snell’s playout portfolio, bringing together routing, automation, and master control with channel branding, providing broadcasters and playout facilities with unrivalled workflow options.

BrandMaster is a first-class technology, combining master control switching with channel branding to raise graphics quality while lowering playout cost. The agreement allows Snell to position and sell BrandMaster’s three variants alongside its renowned Morpheus automation system and Sirius router range. Pixel Power was the first company to sign up to the Morpheus Partner Program, with its graphics devices supported by the automation technology. The company also previously integrated its graphics with Snell’s Kahuna production switcher.

“This relationship will provide even greater power and flexibility to broadcasters and playout facilities,” said Neil Maycock, chief marketing officer at Snell. “We have seen integrated and sophisticated channel branding becoming a dominant requirement in the master control arena, and in order to best serve our customers, extending our partnership with the pioneer in that field makes perfect sense.”

The technology will be sold through Snell’s existing sales channels on a non-exclusive basis. First-line support will be provided as part of the company’s 24/7 global program with second- and third-line support from Pixel Power.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer our technology as such a complete solution as well as a standalone product,” said James Gilbert, joint managing director of Pixel Power. “Already, BrandMaster is proving to be a very attractive proposition for broadcasters and facilities of all shapes and sizes as reducing the number of playout devices continues to be a priority.”

Both parties highlight their previous work together as being critical in the success of this new agreement.

“Integrating more functionality is the way forward in this arena. Our companies’ technological understanding means that uniting Morpheus with BrandMaster in the playout chain and allowing broadcasters to get the former to really drive the latter is second nature to us. With channel branding moving from post production to playout, this is the ideal solution,” added Maycock.

A demonstration will be available on Snell’s booth (N1820) during the show. BrandMaster will also be a highlight of Pixel Power’s display on booth N2034.
